Race Weekend Review – Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Racing at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway – “The Brickyard” – always brings something special. From the iconic grandstands to the energy of downtown Indy, the event feels bigger than just a race. The track demands precision and bravery in equal measure, and the atmosphere reminds you why this place is legendary.
Off track, my wife joined me for the trip – our longest stretch away from the kids in 12 years of being parents. It was great to experience the city together and enjoy a rare bit of downtime. We discovered that Lime Scooters are the best way to get around Indianapolis; we used them to explore the city and head out for dinner. The views from our room at the JW Marriott, overlooking the park and river, were fantastic. The hotel was undergoing some construction, which closed one of the restaurants — but that just gave us more reason to hop on the scooters again.
Practice Sessions
The weekend started strong in practice. We showed pace right away, with our car (#46) going P2 in the Am class during Practice 2 with a 1:26.780 lap. The setup felt solid, and both Sebastian and I were confident heading into qualifying.
Qualifying
Qualifying brought mixed results — P2 for Race 1 and P6 for Race 2. We had competitive pace and felt ready to fight for podiums in both races.
Race 1
Unfortunately, our first race ended before it began. Sebastian was taken out by the pole sitter on the opening lap, and I never got the chance to drive. It was a tough way to start, but the team immediately went to work repairing the car for Race 2.
Race 2
Thanks to the crew’s hard work, the car was ready to go for Race 2. I started the race, but chaos struck again — heading onto the back straight, I found myself reacting to a spinning car ahead and got sandwiched into the wall. Not the result we hoped for, but that’s racing. We had the pace to be on the podium, and sometimes that’s just how the weekend plays out.

Final Thoughts
It wasn’t the weekend we hoped for on paper, but we made the most of it — on and off the track. I’m proud of how the team fought back, grateful for the time with my wife exploring a great city, and thankful to our partners at Fibre Glast for their trust and collaboration.
Unfortunately, this was my last race of the season in Lamborghini Super Trofeo. Let’s see what next year brings!
